Project

FEMTOSOURCE™ scientific™ XL

The system provides 20 times the energy compared to femtosecond laser systems of existing product lines. Therefore the product is placed in-between those oscillators and amplified laser systems. For many customers a usual femtosecond oscillator does not provide enough energy, whereas an amplified system is already over dimensioned and therefore not economically. The FEMTOSOURCE™ scientific™ XL is the ideal system to fill this gap in the market. Unlike an amplifier the low purchase and maintenance expenses make the product attractive for the customer. Another advantage is the much higher repetition rate compared to an amplifier which allows higher cycle times and optimizes production processes as an application for such a laser. This product generates these energies unamplified only from the oscillator itself and is therefore a compact product with industrial potential. High energy oscillators provide benefits in many areas, which were until now not accessible by usual oscillators. Those include:

•    Materials processing
•    Terahertz generation
•    2-photon microscopy
•    Time-resolved spectroscopy
•    Synchrotron experiments

Many applications in those areas are only possible by the availability of higher energies. E. g. in materials processing is the threshold of ablation for many materials higher than the one conventional products can reach.
