This prize was awarded by the “Wirtschaftskammer Wien“ within the Gala for the “25 Staatspreis für Innovation". Small or medium sized companies receive the prize for extremely innnovative achievements/products. Awarded on 9th March 2005 in „Wiener Hofburg“.

Product: INTEGRAL™
The newly developed INTEGRAL™ offers a spectral width in the nanometer regime and enables new application fields in medicine and industry outside scientific labs. The laser is extremely compact and offers ten times shorter laser pulses than existing products. Critical laser parameters can be stabilised using an innovative microprocessor controller.

Important basic research has been made by the project team in the Christian-Doppler-Lab. The 15 new patents show how new this technology is. Most interesting are the possibilites to use the INTEGRAL™ in the field of optical coherent tomography. The achieved resolution is much higher and offers even better possibilities for retina scan diagnostics and early detection of eye diseases. The system also enables progress in dermatological fields of cancer prevention.
